The Piano Department of China Conservatory, established in September 2001, aims to provide high level training in the various aspects of piano playing, including solo, ensemble and collaborative performance, as well as a foundation in piano education and research.  At the time of its formation, the Piano Department purchased a large number of Steinway pianos, in order to make sure thatall students and faculty in the department can use them, which earns the distinction of “First All-Steinway School in Asia.” for the Conservatory.

       Courses for piano major include: Piano Performance, An Overview of Piano Music, Piano Teaching Methods, Chamber Music, A History of the Piano, Piano Literature, and Piano Accompaniment.
